Our Manifesto
What is best for Nature is best for Humans.
When nature thrives, people thrive. Healthy soil gives us nourishing food, clean water sustains our lives, and resilient forests protect our climate.
It is undeniable that caring for the Earth is the surest way to care for ourselves and future generations.
MADRE is a global regenerative hub: a living platform where ancestral wisdom and modern-systems-design converge to restore the health of ecosystems, communities and economies.

Regeneration:
Restoring and rebuilding ecosystems, socities and economies so they thrive together again.
While sustainability focuses on reducing harm, regeneration invites us to go further.
It means replenishing, restoring, and enhancing the vitality of nature, and ourselves.

A bioregion is a naturally defined area shaped by shared ecological features—such as watersheds, climate, soil, and native species—as well as the human cultures that have co-evolved within them. Unlike political borders, bioregions reflect the logic of living systems.
They matter because regeneration is most effective when it’s rooted in the specific relationships, rhythms and needs of place. Bioregions offer a practical framework for aligning governance, food systems, education, and economies with the natural integrity of each territory.
Where we stand today:
While the concept of bioregions has existed since the 1970s, its practical application is gaining momentum. Examples include:
- Bioregional Learning Centre (UK): https://bioregion.org.uk/
- Bioregional Regeneration Practice (Global): https://www.regenerativelifehub.org/practice-groups
- OnePlanet Living – Bioregional UK: https://www.bioregional.com/one-planet-living
- Regenerate Costa Rica (short film): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzEE9BvW7IQ
- Thrivability Zone (Northern California): https://thrivability.zone/
- Living Landscapes Australia: https://www.livinglandscapes.org.au/
Though still emerging, the global movement toward bioregional thinking is accelerating—and MADRE contributes to this transition by grounding all its work in the cultural and ecological specificities of place.
Through Strategic Stewardship, MADRE provides tailored advisory on business models, investment frameworks and operational shifts. We help embed regenerative principles into governance, finance and project planning..
